The Garden Group loves gardens and gardening.  Our aim is to create and foster an active and enthusiastic gardening community in the town.

We try to make opportunities for residents to enjoy their mutual interest with fellow gardeners and seek ways for our shared passion to benefit life for everyone in Teddington.

We’re an informal and loose collection of garden enthusiasts and local garden owners.  Anyone can be a part of the group and sign up for any particular activity.  We are continually looking at our programme and seeking ways to expand and improve what we can offer.  To date, these activities have included:

Horticultural talks

We organise talks on gardens, gardening and food growing topics.  These are open to members and non members and cover a wide range of subjects like promoting wildlife in the garden, what makes a ‘good’ garden and how food is also medicine.

Teddington in Flower

A very popular event for the town and an important local charity fundraiser, where owners generously open their private gardens to the public. The Society also partners with other local groups and organisations on the day to offer teas and homemade cakes, floral and artwork displays, and plant sales.

Our next Teddington in Flower is scheduled for 2025 (date tbc).  If you’re interested in opening your garden or helping out in other ways on the day, do get in touch.

Community gardening

Teddington Society is involved in the care and maintenance of some beds and planters around the town.  Through donations, we fund some paid help, and we have some wonderful community garden volunteers who generously give their time.

If you’re an active gardener and you’d like to join a team and help keep these spaces looking great, do please let us know.
