Furnishing the Victorian Villa: Lady Waldegrave’s revival of Strawberry Hill

On Tuesday 17 June at 5.30pm, Cas Bradbeer, Sara Pope and Rosalind White will be giving a talk for the British & Irish Furniture Makers Online - Furniture History Society summer course on The Evolution of the British Villa. This session looks at Lady Waldegrave’s decorative choices, collecting habits, and the transformation of Strawberry Hill into a stage for mid-Victorian politics and culture.

Tickets may be purchased for individual sessions or for the entire course via the link above (look for Session 3).

The talk accompanies the new exhibition, Strawberry Hill After Walpole, which explores the Waldegrave and Stern family legacies. It’s on now and is free with general admission to the house.

You can find out more about the exhibition itself here.
