Talk: The History of Pantomime

Remember your first visit to a Pantomime? The fun and laughter, the banter, the dazzling costumes, the audience involvement?

What is it about Pantomime that attracts us to this strange concoction of fairy tales, dance, jokes, songs and cross-dressing? And what is it really like to play the back end of a Pantomime Cow? Our speaker, Pete Allen, is the Director of The RC Sherriff Trust, an arts charity established through terms set down in the will of the playwright and author RC Sherriff. R C Sherriff was a local man born and raised in Hampton Wick.

Pete has a long career in the theatre including Assistant Head Flyman, Theatre Director, Arts Development Officer (for Elmbridge Council), Young Peoples Theatres and Workshops.
