Teddington Society Survey 2023
The Teddington Society surveyed its members in November 2023. Thanks to everyone who took the time to complete the survey - 18.5% of our members – a very encouraging response. A summary of what they told us can be viewed by clicking the button at the foot of this page.
This is a summary of the actions we are taking as a result of the survey:
All communications, activities, events etc are being considered in the light of the target to recruit and cover the needs of younger residents
We are working on a replacement of current Teddington Society website, incorporating a brand refresh. The main aim is to develop a more contemporary look, with easier navigation of information and up-to-date content, especially to appeal to all demographics
We are organising a programme of talks on a variety of topics. The Gardens group held two in 2023 and already have two more scheduled in February and March 2024 with more to come later in the year. The other working groups aim to put on at least one talk this year, and more going forwards.
We have started collecting demographic data on members age group, via the membership system, for those who are happy to share it. This will help us to better understand our membership profile, and to monitoring how well we are doing in attracting, and retaining, all age groups but especially younger members.
We are proposing to implement a simplified membership fee structure for new members, which is the same for all age groups, so younger members are not put off by paying higher membership fees than those over 60 years.
We held a “Meet the Committee” drop-in session, for members (and non-members) to find out more about what we do and to meet the committee members face to face. The first was held in January 2024, and there are plans to repeat this, at least once a year.
Links to social media groups have been made more visible in Tidings and on the website
A summer party is planned, following the success of the 50 th Anniversary party in 2023.
Coffee & Tea Socials are now being organised at different times and on different days of the week and at a number of venues.
We are developing plans to forge better links with local schools • We plan to review our approach to ticketing for the next Teddington in Flower
We have replanted the green space in front of Teddington Memorial Hospital
We plan to have more member surveys to encourage feedback in the future, a main one (like the one in September 2023), say every two years, and smaller ones on specific topics, as required.
We took a stall in the Christmas Fair at Teddington Lights up event in December 2023
We plan to liaise with local estate agents to get them to share information about the Society to people moving to the area.
We plan to send periodic emails to members publicising upcoming events and issues of local interest (with an option to opt out)
Where we need you to help us:
Encourage your family, friends and neighbours to join, especially those in the younger age brackets (i.e. those under 60 years…)
Think about whether you (or someone you know) could help with running the Society, either on a regular or ad hoc basis. We have several vacant posts on the Committee and on some of the working groups and are particularly looking for younger people to get involved, especially those with publicity, digital marketing and website skills. The Committee roles currently vacant are shown on the Volunteering <add link> page
