Richmond Society Forum

Three members of the Teddington Society committee participated in the Richmond Society Forum, alongside representatives from other local civics societies from Kew, Mortlake with East Sheen, Ham & Petersham and of course Richmond, who hosted the event which was held in Parkshot in Richmond on 14th November.

A wide range of topics with impact across the Richmond borough were discussed, with the panel giving their perspective and then members of the audience, who numbered around 40, able to comment and ask questions.

The consensus of the panel and the audience was that it was worth identifying common themes upon which we could find common ground. These seemed to be Transport, the River and Heathrow. The discussion on Town Centres had some common themes, but it was clear that each area is different, with its own particular challenges.

We thought it was an interesting concept and further coordination with other local societies could be beneficial on topics where we have common ground.

Due to the short notice that we were given to participate, it was unfortunately not possible to give advance notice of this event to our members in Tidings, though it was widely advertised on our website and on social media. We would hope to address this issue for any similar events that maybe be organised in the future.

We would be keen to hear from our members whether this type of event is of interest to them, either with the wider borough view or more locally focussed on Teddington.
