Teddington Society Design Award

The Teddington Society gives an occasional Design Award for buildings that have particularly enhanced Teddington’s street scene. Most recent awards were for Park Lane Stables and Christ Church.

Elleray Centre

On 2 October 2026 we gave a Design Award for the new Elleray Centre in North Lane. We consider that the building fits very well with the generally domestic architecture of its neighbours and is appropriately modest in scale. The materials used in the building pick up on the traditional colour and brick styles of local houses and the development includes a very pleasant garden at the rear with more planting on Middle Lane to soften the impact of the site. The interior is well suited to community needs, with its flexible spaces - the Teddington Society Executive has met there on several occasions.

The award was given to Clive Chapman Architects of Eel Pie Island, Richmond Council who funded the project and to the Elleray Centre Trustees.
